Meet our Team
Ana Sousa, Owner & Head Seamstress
At the age of nine, Ana Sousa's journey with fabric began when her father brought home a sewing machine, hoping someone in the family might unlock its potential. Little did he know that this serendipitous introduction would set Ana on a lifelong path. Enamored by color, imaginative design, and the sheer joy of working with fabrics, Ana was already crafting her own clothes in junior high. By her twenties, she seamlessly transitioned into designing and selling couture clothing.
Her artistic pursuits led her to New Mexico Highlands University, where she delved into art and weaving, laying the foundation for her creative prowess. Returning to her native Massachusetts in the 1970s, Ana continued to follow her passion for sewing and fabrics. Furthering her education in pattern making and design at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Ana honed her skills.
For over twenty-five years, Ana has been a beacon of craftsmanship and delight for her clients. Nestled in her sun-filled custom tailoring boutique in Hadley, MA, Ana brings an unparalleled level of expertise. Her journey, marked by a deep connection with fabrics and a commitment to excellent workmanship, has made Ana Sousa's a cherished destination for those seeking bespoke tailoring and an extraordinary touch.
Lauren, Lead Seamstress & Stylist
Lauren's love affair with crafting and sewing began in her childhood, evolving into a lifelong passion. Her skills flourished during her formative years, and while at Hampshire College, she delved into fashion design with a vision focused on body positivity, social change, and empowerment. Lauren's journey continued at the esteemed Parsons School of Design, followed by a fulfilling career as a fashion designer in the vibrant streets of New York City.
After starting a family in Northampton, MA, Lauren's creative spirit persisted. Amidst caring for her three young boys, she not only designed but also launched her limited edition collection tailored for pregnant women and new moms. Fast forward to today, armed with years of experience and an extensive skillset, Lauren proudly collaborates with Ana at the premier tailoring boutique in the Pioneer Valley. Her expertise shines particularly having worked with countless brides, skillfully altering wedding gowns, creating custom bustles, and showcasing her mastery with various types of bridal wear. At Ana Sousa's, Lauren brings her wealth of experience to ensure every piece tells a unique story, making your special moments truly extraordinary.
Ronit, Junior Seamstress & Stylist
Ronit's lifelong love affair with sewing and distinctive clothing started at a young age. Fixing clothes has been second nature to her since childhood. At eleven, she inherited her grandmother's extensive collection of yarn and needles, sparking a passion for crochet and knitting. Ronit's skills expanded to table and floor looms, where she even wove fabric for a couture dress. Quilts became another creative outlet, and she seamlessly repaired numerous garments for friends and family.
After earning a Theater degree from Oberlin College in 2019, Ronit delved into the world of educational theater near her hometown of Washington, DC. At Traveling Players Ensemble, she led the costume department for two years, designing, building, and altering costumes for over twenty shows.
Now at Ana Sousa, Ronit finds joy in tailoring clothes to match each person's unique style and spirit. Her attention to detail and love for solving fashion puzzles uniquely equip her for intricate reshaping projects. Her meticulous attention to detail and love for finding creative solutions has honed her particular skill in the art of complicated reshaping, transforming dresses and silhouettes into bespoke masterpieces that seamlessly capture the essence of an individual’s style and spirit.

Clients adore the inviting atmosphere of our sun-filled studio, where glimpses of exciting projects in our studio add to the charm! Our approachable tailors are not only dedicated to their craft but also enthusiastic about discussing and working on all things related to fashion, style, and sewing.
Upon booking your appointment, our warm welcome extends to a comfortable and spacious private dressing room, where you can try on your garment(s). Our expert tailors will then engage in a detailed discussion about your needs, exploring the necessary alterations to ensure you look and feel your absolute best on your wedding day. Options will be explored, and your tailor will expertly pin things in place, providing you with a preview of the transformative journey your garment will undergo to achieve a perfect fit and flattering look tailored just for you. Before you leave, you’ll be provided with an estimate and we’ll schedule you for a follow up fitting. At Ana Sousa’s, you can trust you’re in good hands.
